About Sciona

Sciona is a privately held, international company that provides personalized health and nutrition recommendations based on an individual's diet, lifestyle and unique genetic profile. The Company began on June 8, 2000, the same day President Clinton and Prime Minister Blair announced the completion of the first draft of the Human Genome Project. Sciona was founded on a simple premise: to use the scientific information uncovered in this landmark research project for the benefit of consumers and consumer product companies.

Since that time, Sciona has built a business around the application of evidence-based genetic information for the development of personalized products that help individuals optimize their health. In the process, Sciona has established itself as an internationally recognized pioneer and leader in the emerging scientific field of nutrigenomics. The personnel associated with Sciona encompass the broad range of expertise needed for gene-based personalized nutrition analysis and recommendations: geneticists, dietitians, ethics professionals, laboratory professionals, nutrition scientists, physical performance scientists, and physicians.

Sciona is also assisted by panels of experts that guide the Company in the important areas of scientific research, bioethics, and business development. The Scientific Advisory Board is comprised of individuals with impeccable scientific and, often, business credentials. The Ethics Board is chaired by David Castle, PhD, Research Chair in Bioethics at the University of Ottawa, Canada and has members with varied experience in ethical considerations related to biotechnology in general and nutrigenomics in particular. The business development team has representatives from each of the companies that have invested in Sciona.
